On Saturday the 5th July, 2014, Finsbury Leisure Centre in Islington, London, held a Ladies Only Court Challenge Series.
There were 21 entrants to this second ever Finsbury tournament which uniquely hosted a coaching workshop running in parallel with the graded tournament.
England Squash & Racketball High Performance Squash Coach Paul Carter and World No. 4, Alison Waters, led the workshop supported by local coaches, Lester Cantem and Martin Shippey.
Former contestants, Retha and Kara, travelled to London from Poland to take part in the contest and were warmly welcomed by new and familiar faces.
At the end of the day, squash prizes kindly donated by sponsor, Sweatband, were distributed to the worthy winners amidst some well-earned drinks and snacks.
All participants said they enjoyed the day and many asked about a date for the next one at Finsbury!
The organiser, Lester Cantem, said: “I would like to thank GLL for the generous donation of court time and staff assistance, which made the day a success. I’d also like to thank Alison and Paul for taking time out of their respective busy schedules to be at the competition”.
Anyone interested in joining the Finsbury Leisure Centre Ladies Squash Club should contact Centre Staff on 0207 2501303 or the lead coach Lester Cantem who can be reached on 07894 552894 or by email at email@example.com.
