Miller Homes Serves Up Success

Following a jam packed summer of sport with the World Cup, Commonwealth Games and Wimbledon, Leyland Lions Junior Squash & Racketball Club has won £500 to further develop its facilities and support the work it does in the local community.

The Leyland Lions Junior Squash & Racketball Club, located at Leyland Leisure Centre, has become the lucky winner of the Miller Homes Summer of Sport competition. The club welcomes players from all ages to get involved with squash and racketball and is also part of the ‘Junior Hub Club’ which offers sporting opportunities in local communities such as Preston, Chorley and South Ribble.

John Gibson, from the Leyland Lions Junior Club, comments: “We are thrilled to have won Miller Homes’ Summer of Sport competition as it will allow us to invest in more equipment for the club. We set up the junior club to give children a chance of playing one of the healthiest sports in England and it’s fantastic we can further develop the club and its equipment to allow more children to get involved.”

Samantha Johnson, Regional Sales Manager of Miller Homes in the North West region, said: “Our Summer of Sport campaign was a great success, with applications received from sports clubs across the North West. Getting involved with local communities is really important to us and it was our pleasure to award the Leyland Lions Junior Squash & Racketball Club with the prize money as they do such a good job at getting children involved in sport.”

Golfer David Horsey, winner of the Russian Open, helped judge all applications and selected the Leyland Lions Junior Squash & Racketball Club due to their positive influence in the local community and their drive to succeed in the sporting world.
